From His Majesty's Minister, Peking, to the Governor, Hongkong,
dated 24th, January, 1906.
No. 3.
Your telegram January 3rd.
I wrote again to Chinese Foreign Office yesterday asking for withdrawal of notice and restoration of coal to the custody of bank forthwith.
If this is ineffectual and the bank desire to recover possession of coal without delay 1 am disposed to telegraph facts to his Majesty's Government and request permis- -sion to anchor gunboat close by. I should also mention that you are prepared to iend service of Sikh Folice to guard coal if necessary. Do you conour ? Please repeat this and your answer to Canton.
Frivate.
I presume I may rely absolutely on the good faith of bank and Fung in this matter.
